Among the top 10 most popular names in 2022, Oliver and Lily both jumped four spots in just one year.

Baby names that are trending in Canada include those experiencing the fastest growth in popularity among Canadian parents.

  1. Wren ranked 114th (up 31 since the previous year)
  2. Blake ranked 117th (up 21 since the previous year)
  3. Eloise ranked 79th (up 14 since the previous year)
  4. Freya ranked 100th (up 13 since the previous year)
  5. Athena ranked 91st (up 12 since the previous year)
  6. Gabriella ranked 105th (up 12 since the previous year)

The following boys’ names are growing fastest in popularity:

  1. Leon ranked 118th (up 32 since the previous year)

Breaking into the top 100 boys names in Canada for the first time were Luka, Leon, Jules, Milo, and Weston. Wren was the only girls’ name to enter the top 100 baby names for the first time.

The uniqueness of baby names in Canada has grown 86 percent. There has been a 31 percent increase in the number of baby names in the past 30 years (up 10,605).
